RDSessionFarm1: Macs Connecting Without Using Pace VPN

Introduction

The RDSessionFarm1 terminal server hosts course software that Pace students, faculty, and staff can access remotely from their own computers.  The instructions below will allow Mac computer users to connect from off campus without needing to use Virtual Private Networking (Pace VPN).  If you’re already on campus or connected to Pace VPN, you should follow the Remote Desktop for Mac instructions instead and connect to computer name: RDSessionFarm1

Note:

• Faculty, staff, students, and contractors are required to use Duo Multifactor Authentication when connecting to RDSessionFarm1.
• Windows users should follow the instructions for Windows Connecting to RDSessionFarm1 Without Using Pace VPN.

Instructions

Connect from Terminal Server

1. Download Windows App from the Mac App Store.
   • Note:  Once you have installed the app, the application will appear in the Applications Folder.
      
2. Open Windows App client App
   
3. Click + Icon in the top Right corner of Window, and select Add PC
   
4. Type rdsessionfarm1 in PC name field
   
5. Click Credentials drop down menu, and select Add Credentials
6. Type your pace\yourusername (e.g. pace\ab12345n) in Username field and leave the password field blank
   
   Note: This requires the use a backslash \ , not a forward slash / when specifying the Pace username. 
    
7. Type your pace\yourusername (e.g. pace\ab12345n) in Username field and leave the password field blank
8. Click Add
9. Click Gateway drop down menu, and select Add Gateway...
10. Type rdgateduo.pace.edu in Gateway name field
11. Type rdsessionfarm1 in Friendly name field
12. Click Credentials drop down menu, and select your pace\yourusername (e.g. pace\ab12345n) .
    
     
13. Click Add
    
14.  Click Add
15. Double click the rdsessionfarm1 tile
16. Type your Pace Password
    
17. Click Continue
18. Click Continue
     
    • Note: Faculty, staff, students, and contractors are required to approve the Duo MFA request on your mobile device when accessing RDSessionFarm1 from off-campus or when not connected to the Pace VPN. The steps below do not work with the Duo hardware token. You must enroll a mobile phone or tablet to complete the steps below.
      Please proceed to the next step to complete the DUO MFA process on your Duo enrolled device.
       
19. You will receive a Duo Push Notification
    
20. Open the Duo Application on your registered device
    
21. Approve the request
    
    • Note: After approving the MFA request, proceed to the next step to complete your connection to RDSessionFarm1 on your computer.
22. Click Continue
    

The RDSessionFarm1 terminal server desktop screen should display:

Disconnect from Terminal Server

1. Click Window Start button
   
2. Click the User Account icon
   
3. Click Sign out
