File Share: Accessing Files Saved on Pace.Edu Share

Introduction

This article describes the steps to access saved files from certain hosted applications and resources directly via the user's assigned network share without needing to open the application/resource first.

When Pace students, faculty, and staff create and save files through the hosted applications and resources listed below, they can access the saved content by logging back in via the hosted application/resource and opening the existing file(s).

However, the files are actually saved directly to the user's assigned Pace.Edu network share located at: \\pace.edu\shares\users\username). This means that users can also access and retrieve those files by connecting directly to their pace.edu share.

Applications/Resources That Use Pace.edu Network Shares Include:

  • Citrix Virtual Lab
  • RDSessionFarm1 Server
  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Virtual Machine (VM) Environments
  • Web File System (WFS) - RETIRED; see note below.

Note: Web File System (WFS), also known as Web File Storage (https://wfs.pace.edu/), stored files in pace.edu network shares. However, the WFS application was retired as of December 2025 and replaced by OneDrive, which offers more storage and enhanced features. Any files previously created and saved via WFS before retirement should remain in the user's pace.edu network share, unless deleted by the user.

The steps below explain how to connect to your pace.edu network share separately to access your saved files directly.

Instructions

To access your assigned pace.edu network share, it needs to be mapped (added) to your computer. If you're located off-campus, you will first need to sign in to the Pace VPN. To map the file share, you will need the full pace.edu network share path with your username at the end (e.g. \\pace.edu\shares\users\jd12345p), as well as your Pace login credentials.
