Microsoft Teams: Meetings

Introduction

Pace administrators, faculty, staff, and students can easily schedule meetings using the Outlook add-in for Microsoft Outlook or directly within Teams. Organizers have the flexibility to set up single or recurring meetings, automatically generating joining information to share with participants. Meeting access links are added to Outlook calendar invitations or can be shared via email.

There are several ways to create a meeting in Microsoft Teams, whether through Outlook, directly within Teams, or on the spot from a chat session:

  • Schedule a Teams meeting within Outlook - If you typically schedule meetings in Outlook, you can also set them up as Teams meetings. This allows remote participants to join if they can't attend in person.
  • Meet Now -  While chatting in a Team, you can start a meeting instantly without scheduling it on the calendar.
  • Schedule a meeting within Teams - As an owner or member of a Team, you can schedule a meeting for a specific channel within Teams. This automatically includes all channel members in the invitation, but you can also add individuals who are not part of the channel. Channels are subsets of your Team, and you can schedule a meeting for everyone in the Team by selecting the "General" channel from the Teams calendar.
  • Meeting Controls and Options -  As the meeting organizer, you have the ability to adjust some settings for your meetings such as who will bypass the lobby. When adjusting the meeting options, we recommend reviewing the roles for a meeting first. This will help you understand how your changes will impact those joining you.
