Exchange Online (Office 365): Email Account Setup for Outlook MacOS

Introduction

Pace Students, Faculty, and Staff can set up their Exchange Online (Office 365) email account on their Mac device using the Outlook application.

Note: As of the February 2022 update of Outlook for Mac, Microsoft changed the default user interface (UI).  The below screenshots reflect the February 2022 update. Some screenshots may differ slightly if you are running an older version of Outlook for Mac.

Note: If you have a previous Pace Exchange email account setup on your device, please follow the steps below to delete it before you complete the new setup steps.

Instructions

Setting Up Exchange Online (Office 365) Email Account

  1. Launch Outlook for Mac
  2. Click Tools at the top for screen

  3. Click Accounts…
    accounts
  4. Click Add Email Account

  5. Enter your Pace email address
    email address
  6. Click Continue
    continue
  7. Type your Pace password
    password
  8. Click Sign In
    sign in
  9. Click Enter a Passcode on the DUO prompt
    duo enter a password
  10. Enter your passcode from the DUO Mobile App on your Mobile Phone and click Log In
    duo mobile
    • Note: You do not need to click Remember me for 6 days. Outlook will not prompt for a DUO code after your first login
       
  11. Click on Done
    done
    • Note: Your Exchange Online mailbox will re-sync and you can resume using Outlook

Deleting Exchange Email Account

  1. Launch Outlook for Mac
  2. Click Tools at the top for screen
    tools
  3. Click Accounts…
    accounts
  4. With your Pace Email Account selected, click the minus button (-) in the lower left corner
    minus button
  5. Click Sign Out on the confirmation window
    sign out

Note: You will then be brought back to the Accounts window
