Microsoft Office 365 for Windows

Introduction

Office 365 ProPlus is a downloadable version of Office that will replace the MS Office 2016 application currently available via https://portal.office.com.  The installation of Office 365 ProPlus requires you first uninstalling Office Professional Plus 2016 originally downloaded from ADAM.  If you have not downloaded Office from ADAM, you may skip to the “Installing Office 365 ProPlus” section of this document.

Note: For minimum system requirements, please see below:

  • Memory: 4 GB RAM; 2 GB RAM for 32 bit
  • Processor Speed: 1.6GHz or greater
  • Disk Space: 4.0GB
  • Operating System: Windows 10, 8.1, & 7

Instructions

Uninstalling Office Professional Plus 2016

  1. Make sure to save all your work and close any Office applications you currently have open. Your computer will need to reboot to complete uninstallation.
  2. In the search box, search for Control Panel and click to open
    • Note: On Windows 7, click the Start Button and then click Control Panel.

  3. Click Uninstall a program
    • Note:  If your “View by” setting in the top right is set to view by large or small icons, click “Programs and Features”.
  4. Select Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 or similar and then click Uninstall button.

  5. Click Yes if prompted with a User Account Control window and click Yes in the Setup window.

  6. Uninstallation will begin. This process may take several minutes.

  7. Once uninstallation is complete, click Close button. You will then be prompted to reboot your computer.
  8. Click Yes.

  9. Once reboot is completed, you are now ready to begin installing Office 365 ProPlus.

Installing Office 365 ProPlus:

  1. Go to https://portal.office.com
  2. Sign in with your Pace email address

  3. Type your Pace password and click Sign in

  4. If prompted to stay signed in to office 365 website, either select yes or no as desired.
  5. Once logged in, in the top right of the page, click Install Office

  6. Click Office 365 apps and the installation file will download.

  7. Double click on Office 365 ProPlus installer you downloaded in the previous step. This is typically located in your “Downloads” folder.  Click Yes if prompted with a User Account Control window.
    • Note: If you are prompted with an error, you must follow the previous instructions to uninstall Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016
  8. Office 365 will begin to download and install

  9. Once completed, click Close button

  10. Next, open an Office application from your Start Menu such as Word

  11. Click on the Accept and Start Word button

  12. Click Sign In on the top right of Word.

  13. Type your Pace email address and click Next

  14. Type your Pace password and click Sign in

  15. Uncheck Allow my organization to manage my device box and click Yes

  16. Once your device is registered, click Done.

  17. You may now begin to use Office 365.
