Skype for Business: Dial-In Conferencing

Introduction

Pace University provides dial-in conferencing to all Pace University staff and faculty. Users can easily set up a conference call using Skype for Business via MS Outlook.

Dial-in Conferencing PIN (Personal Identification Number)

Note: A PIN is not needed when a user is calling into a meeting as an attendee. The phone number and Conference ID, which you'll find in the meeting invite, is all that is needed.

You only need a PIN if:

  1. A person is the meeting originator and is calling in via phone.
  2. A person is an attendee that has been designated as a presenter and is calling in via phone.

Setting up or Resetting your Dial-in Conferencing PIN

The Personal Identification Number (PIN) is the number you will use to identify yourself as the leader of a call. You will need to set up your PIN before your first conference call.

  1. Go to https://dialin.pace.edu/

    In the Skype main window, click the Show Menu arrow , point to Tools, and then click Dial-in Conferencing Settings.

  2. Click Sign In under Personal Identification Number (PIN).

  3. Choose your preferred language and click Sign In

  4. Type your Pace credentials and Sign In
  5. If you don't know your PIN, click Reset your PIN under Personal Identification Number (PIN).

  6. Review the PIN requirements, enter and confirm your New PIN, and then make a note of it in a secure location.

Note: On the next page, take note of your assigned conference ID number.
Conference Information

Scheduling a Conference Call via MS Outlook

  1. Open your Outlook Calendar
  2. Click New Skype Meeting

  3. Calendar invite will populate meeting information containing dial-in phone number and Conference ID
    • Note: The conference ID is the access code that call participants will enter to join the call (after dialing in). Outlook assigns this number automatically and adds it to the body of your appointment.

  4. Type recipients, subject, location, date and time
  5. Type body of email message
  6. Click Send

Join a conference call via MS Outlook

  1. Open the calendar invite for the conference call
  2. Click Join Skype Meeting contained in the body of the invite
  3. The conference call window will open
    • Note: You will be given the option of using your computer audio for the conference call. If you would rather call in to the conference, you can call in as usual using the steps below.

Join a Conference Call by Phone

  1. Open meeting request from email
  2. Under Join by phone, note the dial-in numbers and conference ID
  3. The Join by phone conference number listed will change based on the user’s location:
    • NYC: 1 (212) 346-1500
    • PLV: 1 (914) 597-8500
    • Campus Internally: Dial **8
  4. Enter the Conference ID (you will need it to join the meeting by phone)

Join as the Conference Call Leader

  1. Open meeting request from email
  2. Under Join by phone, note the dial-in numbers and conference ID
  3. The Join by phone conference number listed will change based on the user’s location:
    • NYC: 1 (212) 346-1500
    • PLV: 1 (914) 597-8500
    • Campus Internally: Dial **8
  4. Enter the Conference ID (you will need it to join the meeting by phone)
  5. Press Star (*) if you are the conference leader
  6. Enter your Dial-in PIN
