NVivo: Installing on Mac

Introduction

Pace students, faculty, and staff can also download the software on their own computers by following the steps below.

Note: The minimum system requirements for installation, please see below:

  • Memory: 4GB RAM or higher
  • Disk Space: 3GB or higher
  • Operating System: Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) or higher

Instructions

  1. Go to the ADAM page
  2. Click NVivo 12
  3. Enter your Pace Username and Password
    ADAM_Login
  4. Click on New Mac Install and download file
  5. Double Click the NVivo12-Mac.zip file you downloaded to Extract the zipped folder

    • Note: This is typically downloaded to your Downloads folder
  6. Open the NVivo12-Mac folder you extracted

  7. Double click NVivo 12.dmg

  8. Drag NVivo 12 into your Applications folder

  9. Once NVivo 12 has been copied, open the your Applications folder and double click NVivo 12 to launch

    • Note: You will need to grant NVivo Full Disk Access to run the software and a prompt will appear.
       
  10. Click Open Security & Privacy

  11. Unlock the Pad Lock in the bottom left using your Mac Password

  12. Select Full Disk Access in the left-hand column. Place a checkmark next NVivo 12, lock the Pad Lock, and close the window

  13. Proceed to launch NVivo 12 again from your Applications folder and enter your Mac Password when prompted

  14. Click Agree on the End User License Agreement

  15. Copy the License Key found in the LicenseKey.txt file located in the same folder you extracted

  16. Paste the License Key into the NVivo Setup window and click Next

  17. Fill in the required fields to complete activation and then click Activate

  18. Activation will complete and you can now begin using NVivo 12
