Brightspace/Classes: Add a Link in Course Content

Introduction

This article will instruct on two ways to add a link to course content in Brightspace/Classes.

Add a Link as a Content Topic

  1. Navigate to the course that you’d like to add the link to
  2. Click on Content in the blue Navigation Bar
  3. In the desired Module, click the Upload/Create button, then select Create a Link

  4. Input the link Title and URL, and click the Create button

Add a Link to a Content File

  1. Navigate to the course that you’d like to add the link to
  2. Click on Content in the blue Navigation Bar
  3. In the desired Module, click the Upload/Create button, then select Create a File

  4. Input the File Title

  5. In the HTML Editor, click on the Insert Stuff button

  6. Scroll down and select Insert LinkInsert Link

     
  7. Input the link URL and click the Next button

  8. Input the Link Text and click the Insert button
    • Note: Link text will automatically populate for YouTube video links

  10. Click the Save and Close button

Error Message: Adding a URL directly into the File HTML Editor

If you add a URL or create a hyperlink directly into the File HTML Editor, the link will not automatically open when clicked. You will receive an error message stating the browser "Can't Open This Page" and a prompt to Open Site in New Window. Follow the instructions to Add a Link to a Content File to avoid this error.
