Introduction
Pace students can get their own personal Web space account for personal and school use, which is accessible at http://webpage.pace.edu. FileZilla is an FTP client which is compatible with Linux, Mac OS, and Windows. This article contains instructions on downloading, installing, and using FileZilla to upload files to the Web server.
Before using their individual Web space account, students must first activate it at http://webpage.pace.edu.
Note: Off-campus users with activated accounts are required to establish a VPN connection prior to connecting to the Webspace system. Please install the VPN software, sign in with your Pace credentials, and then connect to webspace server using the FileZilla client as per the instructions below.

Instructions
Downloading FileZilla
- Navigate to http://webpage.pace.edu
- Click FileZilla FTP Client
- Click Download Now button
- Note: The Download Now button will appear automatically under the operating system you're using.
- Click Run
- Click I Agree
- Click Next multiple times when prompted
- Click Install
- Click Finish
Note: FileZilla will now install on your computer
Configuring FileZilla
Note: Off-campus users are required to connect to the Pace Network via the Virtual Private Network (VPN) prior to connecting to FileZilla.
- Open FileZilla
- Click File and select Site Manager
- Click New site
- Enter the following information in the General tab:
- Select FTP - File Transfer Protocol in the Protocol dropdown menu
- Type webpage.pace.edu in the Host field
- Type 21 in the Port field
- Select Require explicit FTP over TLS in the Encryption field
- Select Ask for password in the Logon Type dropdown menu
- Type your Pace Username in the User field
- Click Connect
- Type your Pace Password in the Password field and click OK
- Note: It is preferred to uncheck Remember password until FileZilla is closed
- If prompted, click Accept or OK
Note: For security reasons, the "Quick connect" feature is disabled and users will need to connect each time with the New Site that was created above. Users can also click the Site Manager icon to connect to previously configured sites.
Reconnecting to FileZilla
Note: Off-campus users are required to connect to the Pace Network via the Virtual Private Network (VPN) prior to connecting to FileZilla.
- Click Server and select Reconnect
- Type your Pace Password in the Password field and click OK
- Note: It is preferred to uncheck Remember password until FileZilla is closed
Using FileZilla to Upload/Download Files
When connected to the Web Server using FileZilla, the files/folders on your computer will display on the left side, and the right side shows the files/folders (if any) on the Web server.
To Upload files to the Web Server:
- Highlight your desired files/folders on the left side
- Drag and drop your selected files/folders to the right side
- Note: To designate the homepage for your website, just name the webpage file as index.html
To download files from the Web Server:
- Highlight your desired files/folders on the right side.
- Drag and drop your selected files/folders to the left side.
- Now go to your Webspace Link you created when activating your Webspace account.
- Here you can all the files that you uploaded on your FTP server
Disconnecting from FileZilla
- Click Server and select Disconnect
- Note: Your previously copied files/folders will now show on the remote server
