SPSS: Installing on Mac

Introduction

The steps below explains how to install SPSS 28 on Macs.

Note:

• Active faculty, staff, and students can download and install SPSS 28 from the ADAM website on the following devices:
  • Personal computers (i.e.: iMac or Macbooks)
  • Pace-owned Macbooks
• For Pace-owned on-campus iMacs, users will need to submit a Help Desk Ticket
• In order to run the installation, at least 4GB of free disk space and 4GB RAM are required
• The operating system must be macOS 10.13 or higher

Instructions

1. Go to the ADAM page to download SPSS
2. Click SPSS
3. Enter your Pace Username and Password
   
4. Click on New Mac Install and download file
5. Double Click the SSC_28.00.00_MacOS.pkg file you downloaded.
   • Note: This is typically downloaded to your Downloads folder.
6. Click Continue
   
7. Click Agree to the License Agreement
8. Select a destination and click Continue
9. Click Install and type your Mac Password (Installation will begin)
10. Once the install finishes, launch SPSS Statistics in the IBM SPSS Statistics folder located Applications
    
11. Click Launch License Wizard
    
12. Select Next >
    
13. Select Authorized user License and click Next >
    
14. Open the License Authorization – SPSS28.txt file you downloaded from ADAM. This is typically downloaded to your “Downloads Folder’.  Highlight and copy the code.
    
15. Paste the code into the Enter Code box on the IBM SPSS Statistics Licensing Window and click Add followed by Next >
    
16. Once Authorization is completed, click Next> then click Finish
    
17. You may now begin to use the SPSS software. To open the software, go to your Applications folder. 
18. Click the following folder:  IBM SPSS Statistics and double click SPSS Statistics to open the application.
