Classes: Adding Assessment to a Discussion Topic

Introduction

This article shows you how to add Assessment to a discussion topic in Classes.

Instructions

  1. From either the New Topic or Edit Topic page, select the Assessment tab.
  2. You will now be presented with two options:
    Adding Assessment
    • If you have already set up your Gradebook, click on the drop-down arrow in the Grade Item field and select the grade item that corresponds to this Topic. Skip to step 3.
    • Click on New Grade Item to create a new Grade Item in the Gradebook that corresponds to this Discussion Topic.
      • Fill in the Name. We recommend naming it the same name as the Discussion Topic.

      • You can place the Grade Item in a Category if you’d like. Ensure that you add in the Maximum Point. Make a note of the number as you will need it again soon and then click Save.

  3. Enter the score possible in the Score Out Of box.  Make sure the score entered matches the point Maximum value assigned to the grade item in the grade book.
  4. Click Save and close.
